Conventional training methods were not answering Jan’s fundamental question; why should the dog do this for me? It was after seeing Monty Roberts “The Horse Whisperer” in action, that Jan developed the idea of inviting a dog to work using its own language. By studying wolves Jan, with the help of her own dogs, devised “Amichien® Bonding”.
This method is simple, respectful, non-confrontational, calm, consistent, and does not use gadgets or force. Dogs can only ever be dogs; they cannot speak our language. We therefore need to communicate with them in a language they understand, to establish Leadership.
By rejecting all thoughts of dominance and force and replacing them with respect, recognition of the world through their eyes and the desire to get our dogs to want to work with us of their own free will, we are empowered to have happy and relaxed dogs who will respond to our requests and choose to stay with us.
By seeing that almost all problems arise from a misunderstanding, once we appreciate that the dog is looking for a leader who cares for them, is kind to them and will step up to the role of leader when they experience concern or fear, we are able to bring improve our relationship, with the simple adoption of a four part information system. These 4 elements are: Food, Perceived Danger, The Hunt and Status/Reuniting after Separation. |
